June 26th we celebrated the 2020 St. Gabriel School graduation with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Gabriel Church. The graduation had to be delayed due to the pandemic, but it did not minimize the pride and excitement of the evening. It was a fitting finale to a very out of the ordinary year. The twenty-four graduates are models of resiliency. Their accomplishments are many and we know that the best is yet to come. Many of the students are going on to a Catholic high school. The school provides a solid education not only academically, but builds social, emotional and faith dimensions that make up the entire person. May God bless the Class of 2020.

On June 27th I was privileged to attend the ordination to the diaconate for Deacon Joseph MacNeill. Archbishop Blair ordained Deacon Joe along with one other deacon and one priest. This ceremony, too, was different due to the current regulations of the pandemic. But although different the sense of awe and God’s goodness was ever present. Deacon Joe has been assigned to St. Catherine of Siena Parish in West Simsbury for the summer. We wish him all the best and our continued prayers as he continues on the road to the priesthood.
