Evangelization

Helping Hands

Helping Hands Ministry performs corporal works of mercy through the use of members' talents such as knitting, crocheting and sewing.

Prayer Shawl

Prayer Shawl Ministry members provide prayers, warmth, love, and blessings to the sick, bereaved, and elderly. Their shawls serve as reminders of the world around us and to see the face of Christ in all we encounter. They comfort God's children by enfolding them in prayer one stitch at a time.

Rosary Makers

Our Rosary Makers hope to increase devotion to saying the Rosary for world peace by placing them in the hands of those less fortunate who have never owned a rosary. ``Give me an army praying the Rosary and I will conquer the world.`` - Pope Pius XI

Social Action

Social Action Ministry expresses love and service to God through compassionate response to the needs of others. Our work mirrors our belief in the worth and dignity of all people. We welcome new faces, both in volunteers and those we help. (Celebrate Life, Immacare and Covenant to Care included).

Faith Formation

Adult Faith Formation

Our adult faith formation ministry helps adults to grow in both human and Christian maturity, enriching the whole of life with the leaven of the Gospel. It offers a systematic presentation and exploration of the core elements of Catholic faith and practice—a complete initiation into a Catholic way of life. Adult faith formation integrates actual life experience, the study of Scripture, and the teaching of the Church's tradition to enrich the spiritual dimension of the human person.

Bible Study

Engage the Bible deeply as God's revealed word; study scripture in prayerful, in depth and faithful way; Evangelize in accordance with Catholic teaching.

Faith Formation

Sacraments

Eucharistic Ministry

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist bring the sacrament of Holy Communion to all of God's people.

Worship

Altar Server Ministry

As altar servers, because our first duty is in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, our first love must also then be the Holy Eucharist. Love for the Eucharist should be at the heart of our ministry, and should be in the every line of our love story as altar servers. Only by developing a deep love for the Eucharist, by knowing it well, and being firmly devoted to it, will we be able to become good and holy altar servers of Jesus Christ. Love for the Eucharist is the foundation of a fruitful ministry as an Altar Server.

Lector Ministry

Lectors bring life to the written Word of God. Those who proclaim God's Word in the liturgy are known as ministers of The Word or lectors. Answering the call to become a lector enters one into a deeper relationship with God as He is revealed in sacred scripture. Lectors commit to ongoing faith formation and training activities that prepare them for the calling to the ministry.

Legion of Mary

The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work.

Liturgy Committee

Recognizes the beauty of the environment within the church is a means used to meet the Lord and to encounter each other. The art and decoration of the liturgical space enhances the celebration of the liturgy and invites the Catholic community to gather together in its faith and vision.

Usher / Greeter Ministry

To welcome and assist all parishioners and visitors to St. Damien Parish with arms wide and open smile.

Joining a ministry

We know it can be difficult to take the next step from a large group environment like our weekend Mass experience to a smaller setting. That’s why we would like to offer a few suggestions to help.

1) Register for one (or more) of our many ministries. Click either of these links to begin the process: Women’s Ministry and Men’s Ministry

2) Volunteering is a great way to meet people who are already plugged into a small group.
