Helping Hands

Our mission is to perform corporal works of mercy through the use of members’ talents such as knitting, crocheting and sewing. We focus on agencies within the Archdiocese of Hartford, along with homeless shelters, The Villages for Families, American Friends of Kenya, Hospitals and our troops.

The Helping Hands Ministry usually meets the second Tuesday of the month at St. Joseph Church hall from 9am to 11 am. We meet from September through June and our meeting dates are published in the bulletin. April 11, May 9 and June 13 are our last 3 meetings before summer.

The Helping Hands Minsistry consists of about 20 active members with an additional 15-20 who make things at home and send them in. We cross charities with the Prayer Shawl Ministry and help each other fulfill the requests from different groups.

Last year The Villages for Families asked for approximately 500 hats and scarves-we were able to send the 500 hats and 50 scarves.
